Preparation, safety, and important notes – Polyclinic Drinković

Dermatological and aesthetic services at Drinković Polyclinic include specialist dermatological examinations, dermatoscopy, surgical procedures on the skin, and aesthetic treatments (fillers, botox, SkinPen microneedling). Patient preparation depends on the type of procedure or examination.

GENERAL NOTES

(apply to all dermatological and aesthetic examinations)

  • It is advisable to arrive 10–15 minutes early for the examination
  • Bring previous medical documentation and dermatological findings, if available
  • Bring a list of regular therapy
  • Do not discontinue therapy unless otherwise agreed with the doctor
  • On the day of the examination, do not apply makeup, creams, lotions, or preparations to the area being examined
  • If you have acute inflammation, a skin infection, elevated temperature, or a worsening of the underlying condition, it is necessary to mention this when booking

SPECIALIST DERMATOLOGICAL EXAMINATIONS

Specialist dermatological examination

Follow-up specialist examination

  • No special preparation is required
  • Come without makeup and cosmetic products on the examination area
  • The examination includes a detailed medical history, clinical examination of the skin, scalp, and nails, and a plan for further diagnostics or therapy

DERMATOSCOPY AND MOLE EXAMINATION

Examination and dermatoscopy

  • No special preparation
  • Do not apply makeup, creams, or protective products to the skin
  • If possible, bring previous dermatoscopic findings for comparison

Reason: clean and dry skin enables precise assessment of pigmented and non-pigmented changes.

CRYOTHERAPY

Cryotherapy of skin lesions

  • No special preparation
  • Do not apply creams or ointments to the treatment area
  • After the procedure, temporary redness, a blister, or a scab may occur

SURGICAL PROCEDURES ON THE SKIN

Surgical excision of moles / lesions

Biopsy of a skin lesion

  • Come with clean skin, without makeup and lotion
  • If you are taking anticoagulant or antiplatelet therapy, be sure to mention this when booking
  • The procedure is performed under local anesthesia
  • If necessary, the sample is sent for pathohistological analysis (PHD)

After the procedure, the patient receives written instructions on wound care and suture removal.
