What our patients say
Today I had a gastroscopy with Dr. Prim. V Supanc and I would like to thank both the doctor and the nurse who was with him today for their professionalism, kindness, and empathy, and who tried to comfort me and make me laugh because I was very afraid of that examination, and she succeeded. Findings normal Thanks once again to the whole team!

How to prepare for examinations:

Urological diagnostics at the Drinković Polyclinic include specialist examinations, ultrasound diagnostics of the urinary and reproductive system, as well as functional urination tests. Preparation depends on the type of examination.

GENERAL NOTES (APPLY TO ALL UROLOGICAL EXAMINATIONS)

  • It is recommended to arrive 10–15 minutes earlier for the examination
  • Bring previous medical documentation and findings
  • Bring a list of your regular therapy
  • Do not discontinue therapy, unless otherwise agreed
  • If you have acute symptoms (severe pain, inability to urinate, elevated temperature), it is necessary to emphasize this when booking

SPECIALIST UROLOGICAL EXAMINATIONS

Specialist urological examination

Follow-up urological examination

  • No special preparation
  • The examination includes medical history, clinical urological status, and a plan for further evaluation

EXAMINATIONS WITH ULTRASOUND

Ultrasound and examination

Follow-up examination and ultrasound

Urological ultrasound

  • Full bladder
  • It is recommended to drink 0.5–1 l of water 1 hour before the examination
  • Do not urinate immediately before the examination

Reason: a full bladder allows a more accurate assessment of the urinary system and prostate (transabdominally).

FUNCTIONAL TESTING

Uroflow (uroflowmetry)

  • Arrive with a strong urge to urinate
  • Do not urinate for at least 1–2 hours before the examination
  • The examination is painless and non-invasive

TESTICULAR ULTRASOUND

Testicular ultrasound

Testicular ultrasound and Color Doppler

  • No special preparation
  • Comfortable clothing is recommended
  • The examination is painless and brief

SAFETY AND IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Ultrasound examinations do not use ionizing radiation
  • All examinations and tests are performed according to individual clinical indication
  • If necessary, additional diagnostic methods are recommended (MRI, MSCT, laboratory testing)

IMPORTANT NOTE
If you are not sure whether you should come with a full bladder or have additional questions related to preparation for a urological examination, please emphasize this already when booking. Our team will provide you with clear and individualized instructions.

Ultrasound and color Doppler are non-invasive, safe, and painless diagnostic methods that do not use ionizing radiation. Most examinations do not require special preparation, but for certain exams, proper preparation significantly improves the quality of the findings.

GENERAL RULES FOR ULTRASOUND AND COLOR DOPPLER

EXAMINATIONS THAT REQUIRE FASTING

Abdominal ultrasound

  • Arrive with a full bladder

Color Doppler of the abdomen

  • Fasting for at least 6 hours
  • Water is allowed
  • Avoid carbonated drinks, milk, and heavy meals the day before

Reason: the presence of gas and contents in the stomach and intestines significantly reduces the quality of visualization of the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and abdominal blood vessels.

EXAMINATIONS WITH A FULL BLADDER

Urinary tract ultrasound

  • Arrive with a full bladder

Pelvic ultrasound (transabdominal)

  • Drink 0.5–1 l of water 1 hour before the examination
