What our patients say
Today I had a gastroscopy with Dr. Prim. V Supanc and I would like to thank both the doctor and the nurse who was with him today for their professionalism, kindness, and empathy, and who tried to comfort me and make me laugh because I was very afraid of that examination, and she succeeded. Findings normal Thanks once again to the whole team!

About CT diagnostics

Computed tomography (CT) is an advanced diagnostic method that uses X-rays and computer processing to obtain detailed cross-sectional images of internal organs, bones, blood vessels, and soft tissues. CT enables early detection of disease and precise treatment planning.

When is a CT scan recommended?
CT is used to diagnose a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Neurological disorders – brain examination in cases of suspected stroke, tumors, or injuries.
  • Lung and chest examination – detection of inflammation, tumors, or emphysema.
  • Abdominal examinations – assessment of the liver, kidneys, pancreas, and intestines.
  • Orthopedic examinations – analysis of fractures, degenerative changes, and joint injuries.
  • Blood vessel examination (angiography) – detection of narrowing and aneurysms.

How to prepare for a CT examination?

  • Most CT examinations do not require special preparation, but if contrast medium is used, it may be necessary to arrive fasting.
  • If you are allergic to iodine or have kidney problems, be sure to inform the doctor before the examination.
  • It is recommended to bring previous medical documentation to enable comparison of findings.

What to expect during a CT scan?
The examination is quick and painless, lasting from a few minutes to half an hour. The patient lies on a movable table that passes through the CT device, while the images are automatically taken. If contrast is used, a brief sensation of warmth may be felt in the body.

Why choose Drinković Polyclinic?

  • Modern CT devices that enable high precision with a minimal radiation dose.
  • Experienced radiologists ensure fast and accurate interpretation of findings.
  • Flexible appointments and minimal waiting time.

Frequently Asked Questions

How will you prepare for a CT scan?

Before the CT scan, remove all metal objects from the imaging area so that they do not create artifacts and thus produce a poor image. If contrast administration is required, please bring your urea and creatinine test results before the examination. Inform the staff about your current medications or allergies. Also mention if you have suffered from any illnesses or if you have had any medical procedures. It is also important to bring your medical history, if you have it. Inform the staff in case of pregnancy because the examination then cannot be performed. For some examinations, you will be asked not to eat or drink for several hours beforehand, i.e. depending on the examination you are having on the CT, but you will be informed of all more detailed instructions when scheduling.

What can you expect during a CT scan?

The technician will position you on the CT table and during the imaging you must remain still. If contrast material is used, you may have to drink it or it will be administered intravenously (IV). During the scan, the table will move to determine the correct initial scanning position. Depending on the type of CT scan, the machine may make multiple movements.
