MSCT of the abdomen

Computed tomography (CT) of the abdomen is a precise radiological diagnostic method that enables a detailed view of the abdominal organs, bones, blood vessels, and soft tissues. Who is abdominal MSCT recommended for?

CT of the abdomen is recommended in cases of:

• unexplained abdominal pain, bloating, or swelling
• suspected inflammation (e.g. appendicitis, diverticulitis, pancreatitis)
• examination of organs such as the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, kidneys, spleen
• detection of tumors, cysts, or metastases
• abdominal trauma – bleeding, organ injuries
• assessment of the condition of blood vessels and aneurysms

Abdominal MSCT can be combined with contrast agents for better visibility of blood vessels and soft tissues.

Patient preparation for abdominal CT

Preparation is important for the most accurate results possible:

• if a contrast agent is used, it is necessary not to eat 4-6 hours before the examination
• inform us if you have an allergy to iodine or a previous adverse reaction to contrast
• if you have kidney problems, be sure to inform our radiologist before the examination

During imaging, it is important to remain still and, if possible, hold your breath for a short time to avoid artifacts.

The scan takes a short time – usually a few minutes, while the complete examination with preparation may take 15-30 minutes.
