Pregnancy ultrasound – early pregnancy

Prenatal ultrasound in early pregnancy is a key diagnostic examination used to confirm and assess the normal early development of pregnancy. What is assessed by ultrasound in early pregnancy

• confirmation of intrauterine pregnancy

• exclusion of ectopic pregnancy

When prenatal ultrasound is performed in early pregnancy

What the examination looks like

• the examination lasts 10–15 minutes

• no special preparation is required
• it is recommended to empty the bladder before the examination
