What our patients say
Today I had a gastroscopy with Dr. Prim. V Supanc and I would like to thank both the doctor and the nurse who was with him today for their professionalism, kindness, and empathy, and who tried to comfort me and make me laugh because I was very afraid of that examination, and she succeeded. Findings normal Thanks once again to the whole team!

Breast cancer screening – breast screening for early detection of cancer

Breast cancer screening (breast screening) refers to preventive examinations in women without symptoms, with the aim of early detection of breast cancer, at a stage when cure is most likely and treatment is less aggressive.

Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumor in women, but also one where early detection saves the most lives.

Why is breast cancer screening extremely important?

  • breast cancer in an early stage often does not cause symptoms
  • a lump may not be palpable
  • breast cancer detected early has a very high cure rate
  • screening reduces mortality from breast cancer
  • it enables timely and less invasive treatment

👉 Do not wait for symptoms – screening is an examination for healthy women.

Which breast cancer screening methods do we use?

Mammography

  • the basic method of breast cancer screening
  • for women over the age of 40
  • detects microcalcifications and early changes

Breast ultrasound

  • a complementary method alongside mammography
  • especially important in cases of dense glandular tissue
  • for younger women

Breast MRI (the most sensitive method)

  • the highest sensitivity in the early detection of breast cancer
  • recommended for:
    • women with an increased risk
    • a positive family history
    • BRCA mutations
    • unclear findings on mammography/ultrasound
  • detects changes that other methods may miss

Who should go for breast screening?

Recommended for:

If you have:

  • pain in the breast
  • a lump
  • nipple discharge
  • a change in the shape or skin of the breast
➡️ this is no longer screening, but a diagnostic examination.

Individual breast cancer screening

There is no “one examination for everyone”.

In our polyclinic, breast screening is tailored to each patient, taking into account:

  • age
  • breast density
  • family history
  • previous findings
  • personal risk

Based on this, we choose the optimal combination of mammography, ultrasound, and breast MRI.

Advantages of our breast screening program

  • radiology specialists with experience in senology
  • modern diagnostic equipment
  • short appointment waiting times
  • an individual approach
  • clear and understandable interpretation of findings
  • rapid further workup when needed
