Promotions in November
Prostate MRI and testicular ultrasound and color Doppler at promotional prices!
The Movember movement represents the challenge of growing a mustache as a sign of support and raising awareness of the most common men’s diseases. Movember is a combination of the words november and moustache. It was created with the goal of raising awareness about prostate cancer, and over the years it has grown into a global campaign aimed at making men aware of health issues affecting the male population, such as testicular cancer, prostate cancer, and numerous other diseases, as well as their timely prevention.
Prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer in men. In the early stage, it most often has no symptoms, while later symptoms occur in less than 50% of men. Prostate cancer progresses very slowly, and men over the age of 65 are most at risk.
Symptoms
-
- Frequent need to urinate, especially at night
- Difficulty holding urine
- Weak urine flow or the need to strain to empty the bladder
- Painful urination
- Difficulty with erections
- Blood in the urine
- Pain in the lower back, hips, or upper thighs
Risk of developing prostate cancer
Risk increases with age, but that does not mean the disease affects only older people. Men with a family history are 2 times more likely to develop it. Hormonal influences, toxins, chemicals, and industrial products are also believed to affect the onset of the disease. Sexually transmitted infections may represent a risk factor for the development of this type of cancer. Men with a sexually transmitted disease are as much as 1.5 times more likely to develop prostate cancer.
Prevention
Effective preventive measures are not known, but early detection of prostate cancer is possible through regular check-ups. Check-ups are recommended for all men over the age of 40. It is believed that smoking and a diet rich in saturated fats may increase the risk of developing this disease. According to research, obesity also leads to an increased risk of developing prostate cancer.
When diagnosed early, prostate cancer survival rates are higher than 98%. If the disease has advanced, survival rates are less than 25%.
The best diagnostic method for prostate cancer is magnetic resonance imaging with a prior clinical examination as well as tumor marker findings – PSA. Confirmation of prostate cancer is, of course, done with a targeted/ fusion biopsy, which we perform at our clinic.
And of course, don’t forget to book your check-ups!
The price of a prostate MRI without contrast is €200, and with contrast €250.
Testicular ultrasound and color Doppler is €65.
