SkinPen – medical microneedling

SkinPen® is a medical microneedling device, intended for the safe and effective regeneration of the skin. The treatment stimulates the natural production of collagen and elastin, improves skin texture, and reduces the visibility of scars, wrinkles, and irregular skin tone.

At Drinković Polyclinic, microneedling is performed as part of dermatological and anti-age treatments, according to an individual skin assessment and indication.

About the treatment

The procedure is performed using a medical device with a controlled microneedle depth, allowing for precise and safe skin stimulation with minimal recovery time. The treatment can be applied to the face, neck, and other regions, either on its own or in combination with other therapeutic procedures.

What does the treatment look like?

Before the procedure, a skin assessment is performed. The treatment itself lasts on average 20–30 minutes and is performed using a medical device with controlled microneedle depth. If necessary, a local anesthetic may be applied before the treatment.

Is the treatment painful?
Most patients describe the treatment as mildly uncomfortable, but well tolerated. The intensity depends on the region and the individual sensitivity of the skin.

What does the skin look like after the treatment?
Immediately after the procedure, the skin is red and mildly sensitive, similar to a reaction after stronger sun exposure. The redness usually subsides within 24–72 hours. Peeling may be mild and temporary.

How many treatments are needed?

The number of treatments depends on the indication:

• for skin refreshment and improvement of skin quality: usually 2–3 treatments
• for scars and more pronounced changes: 3–6 treatments

The interval between treatments is most commonly 4–6 weeks.

Are there any restrictions after the treatment?

After microneedling, it is recommended to:

• avoid the sun and tanning beds for several days
• use the recommended skin care
• avoid aggressive cosmetic products for a short time
• follow the individual instructions received after the treatment

Who is not a candidate for microneedling?

The treatment is not performed in cases of:

• active skin infections
• active inflammatory dermatoses
• open wounds in the treatment area
• certain dermatological conditions, according to the doctor’s assessment

Can it be combined with other treatments?

Yes. Microneedling is often used in combination with:

• mesotherapy
• PRP therapy
• other anti-age procedures

Combinations are determined individually, depending on the condition of the skin.
