What should you expect during a colonoscopy examination?
The examination is most often performed while lying on your side, with your knees drawn up toward your chest. The doctor guides the colonoscope into the rectum and can then begin the procedure. The procedure should not be painful, but it can sometimes be uncomfortable. Bloating may occur. During the examination, the doctor pumps air into the large intestine in order to allow visualization of the intestinal wall. When the air is introduced, you may feel abdominal cramping or the urge to pass gas.

Colonoscopy usually takes about 10 to 45 minutes.

How will you prepare for a colonoscopy?
The cleansing usually takes several days and is more complex than preparation for other examinations, so we will give you instructions a few days in advance at admission or send them to you by email.

When will I receive the colonoscopy results?
The doctor will write the report immediately after your examination and explain it to you verbally and in writing.
