What our patients say
Today I had a gastroscopy with Dr. Prim. V Supanc and I would like to thank both the doctor and the nurse who was with him today for their professionalism, kindness, and empathy, and who tried to comfort me and make me laugh because I was very afraid of that examination, and she succeeded. Findings normal Thanks once again to the whole team!

Knee X-ray

Knee X-ray
Knee X-ray

Knee X-ray is a fast, non-invasive diagnostic method for assessing the bony structures of the knee. At Drinković Polyclinic in Zagreb, imaging is performed using a high-resolution digital X-ray device, with a minimal radiation dose and a radiologist’s report the same day.

When a knee X-ray is recommended

A knee X-ray is most commonly performed in cases of:

  • knee pain
  • suspected fracture after a fall
  • sports injuries (football, running, skiing)
  • suspected knee osteoarthritis
  • patellar dislocation
  • postoperative follow-up checks

What a knee X-ray looks like

The imaging takes a few minutes, is performed in a standing or lying position, without pain or discomfort.
No special preparation is required.

What a knee X-ray shows

A knee X-ray allows visualization of:

  • fractures of the femur, tibia, and patella
  • narrowing of the joint space
  • osteophytes and deformities
  • degenerative changes of the joint

How long does a knee X-ray take?
The imaging takes a few minutes, and the entire examination is short and simple.

What is the radiation dose for a knee X-ray?
A knee X-ray belongs to examinations with an exceptionally low radiation dose because the effective dose is ≈ 0.001 mSv (often even lower), depending on the number of projections, which is significantly less than daily natural radiation exposure.

When is a knee X-ray not enough?
An X-ray shows bones and the joint space, but cannot reliably show soft tissues. If there is suspicion of an injury to the ligaments (ACL, PCL, MCL, LCL), meniscus, or cartilage, as well as in cases of unexplained pain with a normal X-ray finding, the doctor may recommend knee MRI, which enables a detailed view of all joint structures without ionizing radiation.
