When a foot X-ray is performed

• pain in the foot
• fall or trauma
• suspected fracture of the metatarsal bones

What foot X-ray imaging looks like

The imaging is quick and painless, with no need for special preparation. If necessary, it is performed under load (standing X-ray).

What a foot X-ray shows

• fractures of the phalanges and metatarsal bones
• position of the foot bones
• degenerative changes
• bone deformities
• changes in the heel area (heel spur, enthesopathies)

When is a foot X-ray not enough?
If there is suspicion of stress fractures, soft tissue injuries, or long-lasting pain without clear X-ray findings, the doctor may recommend foot MRI.

When will I receive the foot X-ray report?
The report is interpreted by a specialist radiologist and is generally available the same day.
