Magnetic resonance imaging (MR) of the head is an examination to obtain the most detailed imaging of the brain and other cranial structures that are clearer and more detailed by this method than other imaging methods and does not use ionizing radiation.

When is the brain MRI is used?
Brain MRI is used to diagnose brain tumors, stroke, infection, developmental anomalies, hydrocephalus – dilatation of fluid spaces inside the brain (ventricles), causes of epilepsy (convulsions), bleeding in the brain, multiple sclerosis, disorders of the eye and inner ear, pituitary disorders, vascular problems (aneurysm, arterial occlusion or venous thrombosis), change in pituitary gland, sinus inflammation, head injury, headache, dizziness, sinusitis, temporal bone disease, blood clotting or bleeding within the brain, stroke.

When is the MRI brain angiography used?
MR angiography of blood vessels is used for all pathological conditions that may result from abnormalities or pathological changes in blood vessels.

Intravenous contrast (IV) and preparation
